Sunset Garden
The Sunset Garden is one of the longest established and most popular hotels in Angeles. Since the seventies when this hotel was opened as Randy Rams, it has maintained a solid reputation as being a pleasant, reasonably priced hotel which offers basic rooms with all the necessary amenities, an efficient travel agency, delicious food and a delightful holiday atmosphere.

This is a classic old school Angeles hotel with the major attractions being the swimming pool and the 'nippa' covered open air restaurant. Together they combine with the lush garden to create a unique tropical ambiance which is enjoyed by hotel guests from all over the world.

The rooms here are basic but include everything you may need to make your stay comfortable and complete. In total there are 46 rooms which are composed of 35 standard rooms, 1 family room, 1 family room deluxe, 1 superior room, 6 Deluxe B rooms and 2 deluxe A rooms. The standard rooms are the mainstay of this hotel and are sensibly priced to attract the budget conscious patron. The standard rooms incorporate a private bathroom with hot and cold shower, good air-conditioning, cable television, wireless LAN (Internet connection) well stocked mini bar, telephone, and 24 hour room service. Special discounted rates are also available for longer staying patrons for example weekly cost of the standard rooms is 1220 per night and the monthly rate is 1150 per night.

The normal family room incorporates all of the features of the standard rooms but includes an extra bedroom attached to the main room with an extra bed. The Family room deluxe includes all the features of the standard room an extra bedroom with double bed a split type air-conditioner a writing desk, bed side chest of drawers, built in wardrobe with sliding glass doors and a large fridge which serves as among other things the mini-bar area. The 1 superior room includes all the features of the standard rooms except it has more space and a split type air-conditioner. The 6 Deluxe B type rooms include all the features of the standard and superior room except it is slightly bigger and has more furniture. The 2 Deluxe A rooms incorporate all the features of the Deluxe B rooms except they are even more spacious.

The standard rooms are in my opinion basic and they are definitely an older style when compared to some of the more recently built hotels however despite their age, for those of us on a budget these rooms represent excellent value for money and judging by these rooms popularity many people share my opinion. The Deluxe rooms on the other hand have been renovated to the point where they can compete with the more modern day hotels and they incorporate just about everything the average hotel guest could want. There are certainly bigger more luxurious rooms available in other hotels but I would estimate all things combined the Deluxe rooms in the Sunset Garden Hotel represent some of the best value rooms available in Angeles today.

Other features of the hotel which warrant mentioning are the cozy gym located at the back of the hotel, the well established and organized travel agency that can arrange tours to just about anywhere in the Philippines and the famous Sunset Gardens grill area which produces a wide range of grilled cuisine that has been enjoyed by hotel patrons for 20 years or more.

As stated previously the restaurant and bar area are famous amongst visitors and expats alike and since it is open 24/7 it is patronized all through the day and night. The food here is predominantly Swiss orientated but they also include an extensive variety of Filipino dishes. My particular favorite are the sandwiches which use only the freshest ingredients together with Swiss style wheat bread. The restaurant is covered with a "nippa" roof which provides the necessary shade and allows a pleasant circulation of air which keeps things nice and cool. There are also numerous overhead fans which come in very handy when dining in the heat of the day.

One very important aspect of this restaurant is the fact that it is right next to the pool which is particularly handy at night time making this the perfect venue to take your someone special for a relaxing romantic dinner. The ambiance here is one of tropical seclusion and this is made truly romantic by the gentle lighting that permeates throughout the restaurant and pool area.

Another renowned feature of this hotel is the grill which really comes into its own during the day time where hotel guests can enjoy the impressive range of grilled seafood while relaxing by the pool. All around the pool are a number of comfortable deck chairs with small tables and it is not uncommon to see hotel guests and visitors relaxing in the sun poolside while enjoying a meal and beverages supplied by the grill or restaurant.

The Sunset Garden shares ownership with the New Premiere Hotel and the Palmera Garden Beach Resort in Iba Zambales. The travel agency at the hotel can arrange transport to here or any where else in the Philippines.

This is truly an "old school" Angeles Hotel which represents excellent value for money. It is efficiently run and the ambiance as the name suggests is one of relaxation in a tropical garden setting. The prices here are refreshingly realistic and made even more so with the Asian Escapades discount which is now honored by the Sunset Garden Hotel.

Best of all the they offer all AE members a 10% discount.
