Savannah
The Savannah hotel is Angeles latest offering in the luxury accommodation hotel stakes. This hotel is basically halfway between the Petron Station and the Clarkton Hotel placing it within walking distance of some Perimeter Road Bars but definitely a trike ride from the Fields Avenue Bars.

The Savannah hotel is a very nice mix of practicality and luxury. The front entrance is composed of two thick glass doors which are elegant and yet extremely practical as they act as excellent sound proof material shielding hotel guests from the noisy street outside and manned by two doormen.

They are attentive and quick to help you with your luggage or a pleasant, hello sir, good morning sir, welcome to the Savannah Hotel sir etc. Whilst the doorman’s courteous attitude may seem insignificant it is for me a very important aspect of this hotel in that it generates a positive first impression and as the old saying goes, ‘first impressions last longest’.

Upon entering you are confronted with a large reception area kept cool by immaculately clean tiled floors, overhead fans and a gentle breeze blowing from the swimming pool. On the right hand side is the reception area which is manned 24/7 by friendly efficient staff always ready to answer any queries regarding the hotel, travel arrangements, communication needs, or more generalized questions about Angeles as a whole.

The hotel is still new and very tastefully designed. This combination of taste and elegance combined with practical functionality is clearly evident in the lobby area. This is immaculately clean with polished tiles, numerous overhead fans, marble columns, discreet overhead pin lighting and large open air areas allowing a natural air flow around the entire area.

On the left hand side is a large semi open air bar with ample seating, friendly staff and a large range of alcohol. This is very obviously a social meeting place and serves as a great area to enjoy a cool drink and maybe some food prior to going bar hopping or after your bar hop with your chosen partner.

On the left hand side of the center bar are a series of table and chairs which serve as a sort of informal restaurant area which is serviced by the bar staff in the center bar. This is a large area and including the bar seating it can accommodate up to 50 people comfortably. Again there is discreet pin lighting, natural air flow, overhead fans, and the whole area is clean as a whistle.

At the far end of the restaurant/bar area is an open kitchen area where patrons can actually watch their food being prepared. The hotel is proud of their food and their skillful chefs.

Directly outside in the back section of the hotel is the swimming pool. This is not a gigantic pool like those of the Lewis Grand or the Wild Orchid but it is a decent size and quiet tastefully designed. The pool dominates the back section of the hotel and provides a pleasant area to relax in and forget about ones worldly worries. The pool area is also serviced by the bar staff.

There are two plastic tables and a series of plastic deck chairs for those who like to relax and work on their tan whilst poolside.

At the far end of the pool is an elevated sort of balcony area which is very obviously designed for live performances of bands and other forms of entertainment.

The pool is directly overlooked by one entire side of the hotel and yet still maintains a sense of privacy.

The primary feature of any hotel is the rooms and the rooms in the Savannah are in my opinion quite luxurious, comfortable and very practical making them good value for money.

Due to being occupied we were unable to see the Presidential suite however we did get to see the Savannah suite which was large and featured a huge bed along with a Jacuzzi, rain water showers, a comfortable lounge in the living room section, wall mounted LCD TV’s in the bed room and an elegant bedside writing table.

One thing that particularly impressed me was the size of the rooms especially the suites. We were shown the Savannah suites and the Penthouse suite on the fifth floor and as you can see from the photographs these rooms are huge.

The Penthouse suite is divided into three separate sections the living room, the bed room and the bathroom. Both the living room and the bedroom have their own table stand and wall mounted LCD TV’s.

The penthouse suites have large bathrooms where the emphasis is on luxury and comfort together with modern day functionality.

The living room is spacious and incorporates a comfortable couch from which occupants can watch the large TV enjoy a room delivered meal or just relax in each other’s easy company’.

Check in time is at 12:00pm but prior arrangement can be made for earlier check in depending on availability. Rooms will automatically be cancelled at 5:00pm unless a prior arrangement has been made with reservations department.

The Savannah hotel comprises five floors of rooms and these can be accessed by an elevator or by the sweeping stairway.

This hotel is very nicely appointed and functionally designed. It is very obvious someone with an artistic yet practical flare has designed it. For example on each floor there is a sort of atrium area which incorporates a comfortable sofa and oil paintings in the discreetly lit corridors.

The Savannah hotel is really quite impressive. Whilst it is not on the cheaper side it still in my opinion, offers good value for money. For those wishing to frequent the Fields Avenue Bars the location is a bit restricted in comparison to its counterparts such as the ABC and the Wild Orchid, however, what it lacks in location it in my opinion makes up for in quality service and tasteful design combining artistic flare and functionality.

The hotel staff are excellently trained having been appropriated from other hotels such as the Pacific Breeze and the Orchid Inn. They all speak English well and seem very customer orientated, friendly and efficient.

As you would expect from a hotel in this price range all the necessary services are here combined with the right level of comfort and luxury. If you have the budget then the Savannah is a top end hotel and certainly worth a visit, if not an extended stay.
