Kokomos
There are some hotels which are somewhat iconic and to my mind Kokomos Hotel is certainly one of these. I call Kokomos iconic because it is situated in the middle of Fields Avenue giving easier access to the major bars than any other hotel in Angeles and secondly in many ways it is a reminder of days gone by in Angeles. The rooms range from the basic economy rooms at a very reasonable 1,800 a night through to the poolside deluxe at 3,300. This gives something for nearly all budgets and when combined with the Asian Escapades 10% discount represents excellent value.

The rooms are serviced by the professional Kokomos staff and have

food and beverage service from Kokomos restaurant 24/7.

I have always been quite impressed with the Kokomos hotel because it has such a great location at very reasonable prices. The rooms are not super plush and this is represented by the competitive pricing structure.

All rooms have the basic facilities such as flat screen TV's, cable available 24/7 nice big comfy beds, with down pillows, room service from the Kokomos restaurant 24/7, in room telecom service, free WiFi, expanded room service menus, hot and cold water showers, in room safety deposit box, ample cupboard space, and best of all, every room is spotlessly clean.

When taking the photos for this review I was rather impressed with the ambiance of the place. There is certainly a kind of laid back, friendly atmosphere here. The staff are all industrious as they go about their duties but at the same time they make a special point of smiling at guests and saying hello. For me this is a very simple thing that goes a long way.

One negative that has been mentioned in the past is the noise level from Voodoo bar downstairs. When photographing the Economy room which is the most basic and situated directly above Voodoo, I deliberately shut the door and listen for the music. I could hear it indistinctly but it was muffled enough not to cause any lack of sleep. In short in my opinion the noise from the bar is minimal and certainly wouldn't be a deciding factor for me when deciding a room in this hotel.

One thing I did notice was that the rooms had no windows but then again in this location they are hardly needed. In fact if they had windows the noise level would probably be a lot higher. What's more if customers want some air or a bit more space the Kokomos pool is only a stroll away as is the restaurant and the vibrant nightlife of Fields Avenue.

The Deluxe rooms are large with recently renovated bathrooms. They also have a very comfortable king size bed and they come complete with all the mod cons including a decent size flat screen TV, DVD player, in room safe, and best of all these rooms are located in the back half of the building so there is absolutely no noise from the bars or restaurant downstairs. These rooms are also quite spacious and perfect for those patrons wishing some peace and quiet.

The best rooms are by far the poolside rooms and the poolside deluxe rooms. There is a lot to be said for a room where you can simply stroll out onto your balcony and be overlooking a sparkling blue swimming pool.

The day I visited there was a refreshing breeze blowing around the pool which made the experience all the more pleasurable.

The poolside rooms are also located in the back section of the hotel which means they offer peace and quiet as well as the necessary privacy. At the time of this review the poolside rooms were all solidly booked (which seems to be a common occurrence) and as a result I was unable to get any pictures from inside. I have spoken with Kokomos management and as soon as one of the rooms become available they will notify me and I will get some photographs.

All in all I found the Kokomos hotel to be quite impressive. It is decently priced, it has a very convenient location, the rooms are spotlessly clean with all the necessary mod cons, it has food and beverage room service 24/7 and the staff are efficient yet friendly and will always great you with a smile and cheerful hello.

Best of all they offer a 10% Asian Escapades discount, which makes the already competitively priced rooms an even better deal.
